Jimmy Fallon continued a trend of anti-Trump material on Thursday's Tonight Show, by interviewing an entirely fictionalized version of White House aide Natalie Harp. Fallon segued to the sketch after roughly two minutes of needling the President about his marriage to First Lady Melania, his health, and the Iran War during his usual monologue. 'Well, Trump's personal aide Natalie Harp continues to be in the news,' the host went on. Trump's 35-year-old executive assistant has been the talk of the town since a Washington Post report pegged her as one of the few allowed on a secret flight with Trump out of Turkey last month amid an Iranian assassination threat.
'We just learned that one time she was told that there wasn't room for her in Trump's motorcade, so she hopped in the trunk to avoid getting left behind,' Fallon said, referring to a subsequent CNN report that singled out an instance in 2023. 'Here to comment is Trump's personal aide, Natalie Harp,' Fallon continued. An actress in a blonde wig soon filled viewers' screens, as did a mysterious, dark background. 'Wait.
I'm sorry, are you - in Trump's trunk right now?' Fallon asked, seeing that the actress playing Harp was almost laying prone. 'Don't be ridiculous. That would be humiliating,' the upbeat aide said. 'I mean, it really does look like you are though,' Fallon pressed.
'Okay, hot shot. If I were in a trunk, would I have this tire pressure gauge?' she asked, producing the tool. 'Actually, yes. That's exactly what you would have,' Fallon said.
'Oh yeah? What about this car-jack?' the faux Harp quipped. The sequence continued with other commonplace car appliances, with the fictitious aide even whipping out a bottle of anti-freeze as purported proof. As Fallon remained skeptical, Harp warned she was about to hit a 'pothole.' 'Pothole?!
Clearly, you’re in the trunk,' Fallon said. 'You have to admit it’s a little weird that you’re so obsessed with the president that you can’t be away from his side for even one second, right?' The actress playing Harp hit back, calling the characterization 'so unfair.' 'What are you going to accuse me of next? Hiding under his bed while he sleeps and gently whispering love poetry so quietly that he thinks it’s just the wind, but I know what I’m saying, I know exactly what I’m saying, and I mean every word. 'Every single word,' she emphasized, with repeated, suggestive looks to the camera.
The sketch continued with showrunners lampooning the White House aide's reported reputation as 'a human printer,' for a tendency to tail the President with a portable printer so he can read documents as hard copies, The New York Times reported Tuesday amid a surge of interest into the staffer, after she was mentioned by Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff in a Sunday speech as well. The faux Harp produced some printed versions of love letters to the President as she unconvincingly pushed back on real rumors that Harp and the president are closer than their professional relationship may suggest. She was jarred by another pothole to end the bit, while Fallon laughed. Ossoff, while criticizing Trump, said the President simply 'wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar' on Sunday.
The mention already came amid growing questions about Trump’s closeness with the staffer since the Post report, which highlighted how important Harp's work was to the President. On Tuesday, CNN’s Erin Burnett had Harp’s estranged brother Preston Harp on her show 'OutFront.' He said his sister may have an 'unhealthy obsession' with Trump. She was hired as his assistant in 2022. Her devotion to Trump has remained consistent despite attempts by his inner circle to distance her from the President, according to both the Times and CNN.
Fallon already mocked Donald Trump's marriage, his approach to foreign policy, and claims he is 'in excellent health' in recent episodes. Producers also offered a Trump sketch on August 11. It panned the President for hiding in a catering cart before boarding the plane with Harp and others. High-powered officials like Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent remained on a 'decoy plane.' The Daily Mail approached the White House for comment.
