Mumbai Metro To Run Late-Night Services During Ganeshotsav, Central Railway To Avoid Mega Blocks
Mumbai Metro services will be increased and extended till late night during Ganeshotsav to facilitate the movement of devotees, while regular mega and night blocks on Central Railway’s Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines will be avoided during the festival, Cabinet Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said on Friday.Metro Operators Asked To Increase Frequency During Peak HoursLodha has directed transport authorities to ensure safe, smooth and hassle-free travel for the lakhs of devotees expected to visit Ganesh mandals across Mumbai and its suburbs. Metro operators have been asked to reduce the interval between services during peak hours, operate additional trains and extend the last services, wherever required, up to midnight.The minister has also directed Central Railway not to undertake regular mega blocks and night blocks from the beginning of Ganeshotsav until Anant Chaturdashi, considering the expected increase in passenger traffic.Additional Local Trains And Security Personnel Planned For DevoteesAdditional suburban special trains should be operated during peak and late-night hours to cater to devotees returning after Ganesh darshan.
